BJ Automotive GmbH


BJ Automotive has emerged from the automotive sector of Busch-Jaeger Elektro GmbH, a subsidiary of the ABB Group. The Busch-Jaeger Automotive activities commenced in the 1970s beginning with the supplies highperformance ignition systems being delivered to the Audi AG production.

In the years after a small but well-performing business unit developed around distinctive electromechanical components and the special switch know-how of Busch-Jaeger. Achieving a turn-over of about 30 Million Euro at the end of the 1990s with switches for the inside of vehicles at year's end 2000 this unit was acquired by the 3i Investor Group acting as the majority shareholder.

Today Chinese group of companies Defond, being active in the switch and electronic business segment, is majority shareholder and all premises for a successful globalisation of BJA have been created.
